A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

Overview

To take a lead role in planning, co‑ordinating, delivering and evaluating the service provided to obstetric patients with pelvic health conditions on a day‑to‑day basis, and work closely with and support other Physiotherapy teams working with pelvic health conditions across UHDB/ LMNS.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, plan and coordinate the education, training and supervision of the Physiotherapists, support workers and students working within the speciality.
  • Provide advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients with complex needs associated to the speciality.
  • Represent the Physiotherapy service to the wider UHDB women’s health multi‑disciplinary team as well as being the link to the Therapy managers, internal and external stakeholders across UHDB linked ICB's and LMNS structures.
  • Ensure that pelvic health service contributes appropriately to specialty KPIs, and to support the PPHS to achieve KPIs that relate to pelvic health service at UHDB.
  • Determine clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated, and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, inpatients and outpatients, and organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • Support day‑to‑day management (reviewing performance and progress, allocation and checking of work) and training to Physiotherapy staff, to ensure competence in carrying out duties with patients with pelvic health problems.
  • Ensure that service targets are met and facilitated on a daily basis. Coordinate the service with other Physiotherapy colleagues to ensure provision of a prioritised service during pressure times, due to workload or staffing difficulties.
  • Provide support, guidance, training and evaluation of qualified and unqualified staff, to ensure their structured career progression.
  • Undertake and coordinate evidence‑based audit and research projects to further own and team’s clinical practice. Lead the implementation of specific changes to practice or service protocols.
  • Work as part of the MDT to provide advice and deliver a holistic patient‑centred approach to care in an inpatient and outpatient capacity.
