The nuclear medicine department is currently looking to recruit a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to work at one of the country’s largest NHS Trusts, Barts Health NHS Trust. The department is spread across three sites: St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Royal London Hospital, and Whipps Cross University Hospital. It comprises 4 SPECT-CT scanners, 1 Gamma Camera, and a state-of-the-art GE Discovery PET-CT.

The trust also operates major GFR services for oncology, a therapy service, and a large in-house Radiopharmacy department. Recently, a new SPECT CT system was installed at RLH, with plans to add another PET CT system and expand radionuclide therapy services. Additionally, the department runs a highly active Rubidium cardiac service, one of the busiest in the country.

The department is well led by senior managers and supported by Medical Physics and Nuclear Medicine Physicians, who provide guidance and support. The successful candidate will be supported in their career development through educational opportunities, conference sponsorships, and seminars. To be eligible for this position, you will need:

• At least 1 year NHS experience.
• Eligible or currently pursuing a Pg Dip in Nuclear Medicine, BSc Radiography, DCR, or an equivalent qualification in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Ability to develop your skills and support others' development.
• Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workload.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Willingness to rotate across three different hospitals within the Trust, including various Nuclear Medicine and PET CT departments located around London.

• Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in Nuclear Medicine, including using gamma cameras, handling radioactive materials, and operating associated equipment.
• Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine scanning protocols and computer/keyboard skills.
• Ability to administer IV injections and perform venipuncture.
• Knowledge of Nuclear Medicine processing protocols.
• Understanding of gamma camera QC procedures.

• Ability to prioritize work effectively in a busy environment, including managing staff resources when acting as deputy to the lead radiographer.
• Willingness to work within established regimes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Flexibility, willingness to learn, and capacity to undertake training.
• Contribute to development projects.
• Manage own workload and assist in planning to meet clinical demands.
• Exercise initiative when dealing with issues within your specialist area.

• BSc Radiography, DCR, or an equivalent qualification in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• IV cannulation skills.
• State Registration - HPC or Voluntary Register of Clinical Technologists (IPEM).
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.
