Job summary
A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Senior Finance Manager for a temporary role involving financial and corporate responsibilities within a local authority. The candidate must be CCAB-qualified or studying towards it, with strong public sector finance understanding. Key duties include preparing budgets and producing the annual Statement of Accounts. Excellent analytical and communication skills, along with the ability to lead projects and manage multiple workstreams, are essential. The role is based in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex with a pay range of £200-£250 per day.

Contract: Full‑Time, Temporary (Initial 3 Months)
Hours: 37 hours per week
A temporary opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Finance Manager to support a local authority on a range of financial and corporate responsibilities.
You will ensure compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements and lead on the delivery and development of a variety of accountancy, corporate finance, and finance‑related functions. Key duties include:
- Preparing and monitoring budgets
- Supporting the production of the annual Statement of Accounts
- Providing expert financial advice and support to officers and elected members
A key aspect of this role includes working alongside a Project Delivery Team, contributing to a wide range of strategic and transformational projects across regeneration, housing, economic development, and cultural initiatives.
You will be a CCAB‑qualified Accountant (or currently studying towards qualification, ideally CIPFA) with a strong understanding of public sector finance. You will bring:
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- A track record of leading projects and supporting or supervising team members
- High standards of professionalism, confidentiality, and resilience
You must be organised, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple workstreams while working under pressure and meeting strict deadlines.
