Applications are invited for a Senior Neonatal Fellow to join the NICU at St Michael's Hospital, combining clinical work at ST4+ level. The post is for an initial period of 6 months starting from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified candidate to enhance their experience in tertiary neonatal intensive care. The regional NICU at St Michael's Hospital provides tertiary neonatal intensive care for medical patients and supra-regional services for infants with surgical, neurosurgical, and cardiac issues. It also serves as the base for the regional Neonatal Transport team.

This post can serve as a standalone fellowship, out-of-programme experience, or as a post-CCT fellowship. St Michael's NICU was rated in the top quartile for clinical experience, curriculum coverage, supportive environment, and overall satisfaction in the 2018 GMC survey. The unit fosters an inclusive environment and staff development.

Applicants should have at least 12 months of experience at ST4+/SpR level or equivalent in neonatal medicine, be registered with the GMC, and eligible to work in the UK.

We seek candidates with registrar-level experience in tertiary neonatal medicine who wish to further their educational and clinical skills, including exposure to neonatal surgical, neurosurgical, and cardiac care. The fellowship can be undertaken as a stand-alone, out-of-programme, or post-CCT experience. The post is expected to commence from March 2025 for 6 months, based at the Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St Michael's Hospital, with all clinical duties in neonatal medicine.

• At least 3 years of general professional training in approved UK or equivalent paediatric posts, including 6 months in neonatal intensive care.
• 6 months of experience at SpR level in NICU.
• Experience in a large tertiary neonatal unit capable of providing all levels of intensive care.
• Sub-specialty experience in paediatrics, including community child health and global paediatrics.
• Experience in obstetrics, intensive care, or anaesthetics.

• Competencies appropriate for ST4 level posts.
• Computer literacy.
• Willingness to teach other professionals.
• Knowledge of quality improvement and audit processes, with participation in relevant projects.
• Early achievement of MRCPCH or equivalent.
• Training in teaching, learning, and research.

• MB ChB or equivalent; GMC registration or eligibility.
• Full MRCPCH or equivalent.
• NLS or equivalent.
• BSc; higher degree (MD or PhD).
• ARNI and/or APLS provider; NLS and/or ANRI instructor.

• Commitment to child health care and professional development.
• Self-motivated, organized, and proactive.
