Job description
Vacancy for Lecturer (Digital Information and Curatorial Practice) at Manchester Metropolitan University

27 May 2021

Manchester

Full-Time

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities offers a unique environment where Humanities, Languages, and Social Sciences sit alongside the Manchester School of Art and the Manchester Fashion Institute. Student experience is central to our mission. We provide state-of-the-art facilities, including digital and technical workshops, studios, and gallery spaces to enhance learning and collaboration.

About the role: We are seeking to appoint a lecturer in Digital Information and Curatorial Practice with expertise in areas such as library, information management, archives, collections, and/or curating.

The ideal candidate will have experience in creatively designing and delivering higher education curricula at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in both subject-specific and interdisciplinary contexts. This role requires versatility and the ability to contribute to teams across various digital arts and communications disciplines, involving both academics and industry professionals.

The successful applicant will contribute significantly to our programmes in digital collections development, digital asset technologies and platforms, digital rights management, strategic planning, and change management. They will also develop subject specialisms related to information and data curation practices and their relevance in digital initiatives.

The candidate should possess a thorough understanding of current industry trends and be capable of conducting research and delivering programmes that are contemporary yet explore future possibilities, encouraging students to investigate what it means to be a creative media practitioner at the intersection of technology and innovation.

This role is co-managed across two areas: the iSchool (a section of the Department of Languages, Information and Communications) and our new School of Digital Arts.

If you are interested in joining our team and sharing our vision, we would love to hear from you.

Manchester Metropolitan University is dedicated to supporting the rights, responsibilities, dignity, health, and wellbeing of staff and students through our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

We encourage applications from all community sections, regardless of background, belief, or identity, recognizing the benefits a diverse workforce brings. We especially welcome applications from underrepresented groups.

We value a flexible working environment and are open to discussions about flexible arrangements and reasonable adjustments throughout the application process.
