Job summary

A leading engineering company in Warwick is seeking a Service & Commissioning Engineer. You will be responsible for servicing and commissioning specialist machinery across various sectors including automotive and aerospace. The ideal candidate has a relevant engineering qualification and experience in electro-mechanical engineering. This role involves significant travel to customer sites throughout the UK and Ireland, with training provided locally and in Germany. Job description
Your Tasks
  • As a Service & Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for service, maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning of a range of specialist machinery and equipment.
  • You will work on our range of specialist balancing machines, which can be capable of measuring un‑balance on a rotating part, and, in some cases, making corrections to the un‑balance. Our machines are suitable for measuring un‑balance on rotors ranging from small dentist drills to large power station generators. We have equipment in the automotive sector (crank balancing machines), the aerospace sector (balancing jet engine parts), and for general industry applications.
  • You will work closely with our office team located in Warwick who look after our extensive customer base. You should expect variety, travel and work that involves technical challenges, whilst representing our business on customers sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
  • Training will be given on our equipment, both locally and at our manufacturing plant in Germany.
Your Skills
  • Ideally you will already have gained a relevant Engineering qualification such as an Apprenticeship or HNC / HND in an engineering discipline; or have the equivalent level of experience.
  • You will be a multi‑disciplined electro‑mechanical engineer with the ability to work with electrical control systems, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experience of undertaking service, repair, maintenance and modernisation of equipment in a previous role is required, ideally from within the automotive, aerospace, and / or similar manufacturing environments.
  • An understanding of dynamic balancing processes and equipment would be desirable but is not essential.
  • You must have experience of fault finding and rectification, problem solving to overcome issues utilising your technical knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of drives and PLC control, especially Siemens S7 is required.
  • You will be competent in completing site assessments and risk assessments.
  • You should be able / willing to work in confined space with sufficient training.
  • Customer relationship management experience and the ability to seek out selling opportunities for products and services would be a benefit.
  • Knowledge of UK H&S legislation is required, a H&S qualification such as IOSH would be an advantage.
  • You will be competent in completing site assessments and risk assessments.
  • You will have good PC skills with the ability to use MS office applications. You must have excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with the customer at all levels.
  • You will be methodical and accurate with strong communication and problem solving skills. You will be self‑motivated and have the ability to prioritise and plan workloads and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • You will need to have a flexible approach and be able to work independently and within a team.
  • Although our Head Office is in Warwick, you will spend the vast majority of your time working on customer sites around the UK and sometimes overseas, for either short or extended periods. You will therefore need to be flexible with regards to travel and working time since you may be required to work some weekends and occasional shifts.
