The Role

As a Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the design and delivery of building services engineering projects from initial concept through to completion.

Working as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to develop your technical expertise, manage project responsibilities and build strong relationships with clients and fellow construction professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake mechanical or electrical building services design across a variety of projects.
• Produce detailed engineering calculations, technical drawings, specifications and reports.
• Contribute to the design and coordination of projects from feasibility and concept through to completion.
• Attend client meetings, design team meetings and site visits.
• Undertake site surveys and assess existing mechanical or electrical installations.
• Liaise with architects, contractors, consultants and other members of the project team.
• Provide technical advice and practical, commercially considered engineering solutions.
• Monitor installation works to ensure compliance with design requirements and relevant standards.
• Manage individual project responsibilities and deadlines.
• Support and mentor junior engineers where appropriate to your level of experience.

What We’re Looking For

We are interested in hearing from Mechanical and Electrical Design Engineers who have gained experience within the building services sector, ideally working for an M&E or multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.

The successful candidates will ideally demonstrate:

• Previous experience in Mechanical or Electrical Building Services Design.
• Experience working across different stages of the design and construction process.
• A sound understanding of relevant UK Building Regulations, technical standards and industry best practices.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical drawings and design specifications.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing project deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with clients and multidisciplinary design teams.
• A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.
• An HND, degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering would be advantageous.
