Job summary

MBDA UK is seeking a Quality Improvement and Capability Manager (APQP Focus) to drive a proactive, right-first-time culture, bridging design and manufacturing in a leading defence organisation.

You will own the Product Risk Mitigation strategy, lead DFMEA/PFMEA and DMAIC cycles, and coach cross-functional teams to deliver zero-defect product launches within EN9100/ISO 9001 and AS9145 frameworks.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mission-critical, regulated sector (Defence, Aerospace, or Automotive).
• Engineering background with electronics, manufacturing, assembly and product design.
• Expert knowledge of AS9145, EN9100, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949.
• Experience with APQP lifecycle and DFMEA, DFM/DFA, PFMEA.
• Proven governance of Phase-Gate APQP/AS9145 milestones and tracking software.
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred; DMAIC, MSA and SPC.
• Skilled facilitator bridging design, manufacturing and supply chain with a quality-first culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFMEA/PFMEA workshops to identify and eliminate risks early.
• Translate design intent into robust production control plans.
• Coach DMAIC projects to stabilize production and lift yields.
• Lead FRACAS/8D problem solving and feed lessons back into FMEAs.
• Ensure audit/compliance with EN9100, ISO 9001 and AS9145 standards.
• Assist engineering prioritisation using AP logic for changes and tests.
