Job summary

Bradford Children and Families Trust is seeking 8 Youth Workers for the Adolescent Pathway within Breaking the Cycle, delivering intensive, relationship-based support to young people at risk of entering care, within the Bradford Youth Service team.

The role requires evenings and weekends, trauma-informed and restorative practice, safeguarding awareness, and a dedication to preventing care entry while supporting families and communities in Bradford.

Qualifications

  • Has a JNC Level 6 qualification or equivalent or would be willing to work towards.
  • Has experience working with adolescents with complex needs and behaviours.
  • Is skilled in building relationships with young people who may be resistant to services.
  • Can evidence strong safeguarding awareness and understanding of risk.
  • Works in a trauma-informed and restorative way.
  • Is resilient, flexible, and able to work consistently and persistently with families.
  • Is passionate about achieving better outcomes for young people.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver intensive, direct work with young people and their families.
  • Build and maintain trusted , consistent relationships with children and young people.
  • Support young people to understand and manage risk, behaviour, and relationships; work flexibly including evenings and weekends.
  • Contribute to family-led planning and interventions that strengthen relationships at home.
  • Work as part of a multi-agency team within District Youth Services Targeted Youth Support.
  • Ensure all work is trauma-informed, relational, restorative and youth-centred.

About the Role

We are seeking passionate Youth Workers to join Breaking the Cycle as part of Targeted Youth Support Services.

These roles will sit within the Youth Service Adolescent Pathway, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, youth-work-led interventions to young people at risk of entering care.

As a Youth Worker, you will work directly with young people and their families, providing intensive, relationship-based support that helps stabilise situations, reduce risk, and keep young people safely connected to their families, schools, and communities .

Breaking the Cycle is well known for its innovative responses and work with children and young people who need help and support . This role is fundamental in changing how we respond to adolescents and families—moving away from crisis- driven responses towards relational, preventative support .

As a Youth Worker, you will:

  • Work flexibly to build trusted relationships with young people facing complex challenges
  • Deliver trauma-informed, restorative, needs-led interventions
  • Support young people to develop skills to manage conflict and complexity
  • Help prevent unnecessary entry into care

What You’ll Do

About You

You are a committed youth work practitioner who:

  • Has a JNC Level 6 qualification or equivalent or would be willing to work towards.
  • Has experience working with adolescents with complex needs and behaviours
  • Is skilled in building relationships with young people who may be resistant to services
  • Can evidence strong safeguarding awareness and understanding of risk
  • Works in a trauma-informed and restorative way
  • Is resilient, flexible, and able to work consistently and persistently with families
  • Is passionate about achieving better outcomes for young people
