Job summary

Confidential in Southampton is seeking a Residential Childcare Practitioner to support up to ten children with complex needs in a secure, therapeutic setting. The role involves acting as a trusted role model, building secure relationships, and aiding trauma recovery with empathy and consistency.

You will work within a structured program, coordinating with education and wellbeing colleagues, leading purposeful activities, and participating in shifts that can include weekends and sleep-ins.

• Demonstrated passion for working with children and young people.
• Strong emotional resilience and patience to support vulnerable individuals.
• Ability to maintain boundaries and safety in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• Be a therapeutic presence and positive influence for up to ten children.
• Collaborate with education and wellbeing teams to support holistic care.
• Lead structured, enriching activities and routines.
• Cover flexible shifts including weekends, early/late, and sleep-ins.
• Receive full induction and ongoing training to uphold safe practice.

As a Residential Childcare Practitioner, you'll work in a structured, therapeutic setting that helps vulnerable young people feel safe, supported, and empowered. You'll act as a trusted role model, build secure relationships, and support recovery from trauma with empathy and consistency.
