The role

The role of a Youth Support Worker involves working within the classroom with a dedicated behavioural support team providing learning support to students in a SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) and EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) pupil referral unit (PRU) in the Chesterfield area. Some pupils may also have needs such as ADHD, ODD, dyslexia, autism, mild learning difficulties, anxiety, and those who follow an EHCP. In this role, you will encourage, support, and engage with young people aged 11–16 years old (KS3/4) who are disengaged from education. You will do this in small groups, larger groups, or on a 1:1 basis, demonstrating this through a variety of sports-based P.E lessons or classroom-based activities such as food technology, literacy, and numeracy. This position is full-time, temporary with the potential to become permanent.

The school

All of the schools that Vision for Education works with are dedicated to offering the best possible learning experience tailored to each student’s individual needs. The schools cater to children with special educational needs and are equipped with the best teams and technology to help children adapt and grow into adult life. This particular school is based within the Chesterfield area and was rated ‘Good’ by a recent Ofsted report. It caters to young people who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools.
