Job summary

An education support and recruitment company is seeking a School Mentor in Manchester to provide one-to-one support for young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving the lives and educational outcomes of children, working closely with other professionals and serving as a positive role model. This role is critical in addressing the emotional and educational challenges faced by learners.

Qualifications

  • Ability to act as a positive role model.
  • Experience in a mentoring or supportive role is an advantage.

A Sennen Education Mentor is enthusiastic about improving the livelihood and life chances of children. They have a powerful impact on young people’s lives, through being a consistent, friendly and trustworthy influence.

The main aim of a school Mentor is to reduce the harmful effects of Social Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties that currently affect the Learner. This is a key role in ensuring that the young person’s current situation does not have a long-term damaging effect on their education and overall wellbeing.

School Mentor Core Responsibilities :

  • Driving responsibilities
  • Mentor young people
  • Review EHCP / Behaviour and use findings to inform the construction of a positive behaviour scheme
  • Become a positive role model for the young person
  • Liaise with SENCo, Classroom Teacher and any other key professionals in pupil's education, to inform them of progress.
  • Provide discreet, one to one support or small group support to the learner/s
  • To be resilient and able to take regular responsibility for agreed learning
