Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a Learning and Engagement Mentor to support pupils with additional needs and help them engage with education.

The role draws on transferable skills from sport coaching, such as communication, motivation, resilience and relationship-building, to support learning and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work with pupils in and out of the classroom, building positive relationships and adapting approaches to individual timetables and needs to foster confidence

Formación

• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs in a classroom setting.
• Ability to adapt approach to meet individual pupil needs and learn swiftly.
• Strong communication with pupils, staff and families.

Responsabilidades

• Provide in-class support to pupils with additional needs to access learning.
• Build positive relationships with pupils facing barriers to learning.
• Support pupils on tailored or individualised timetables and transitions between lessons.
• Use sport, physical activity and outdoor activities to support wellbeing where appropriate.
• Recognise emotional difficulties and respond calmly with suitable strategies.
• Encourage resilience, independence and social/communication skills.
• Adapt activities to individual pupil needs, interests and abilities.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND team and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support.
• Help pupils develop confidence and readiness to engage in learning.
• Contribute to monitoring pupil progress, engagement and wellbeing.
