Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a Supported Accommodation Worker to help young people move toward independence. You will support education, life skills, and budgeting while building trusted relationships and acting as a positive role model.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, resilience, and flexible teamwork within a 37-hour full-time or 18.5-hour part-time rota, with hybrid working not applying.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths A-C or equivalent.
  • 1-2 sentences in this field must reflect the requirement.
  • Level 3 qualification relevant to working with young people.
  • Experience with children and young people with complex needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible approach and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Help young people learn to manage their own home.
  • 2–3 short sentences per item max 140 chars.
  • Support access to education, training and employment opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on budgeting, cooking and appointments.
  • Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Support young people through challenges and celebrate achievements.
  • Identify strengths and aspirations for the future.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing in daily tasks.
