Job summary

YMCA DownsLink Group in Eastbourne is seeking a Supported Housing Support Worker to manage a caseload of residents aged 16–25 and provide personalised guidance from our Eastbourne Foyer and related sites. You will develop personalised support plans, track progress and help residents move towards independent living.

The role offersfrontline housing support, trauma-informed practice, and collaboration with a dedicated team across multiple sites in East Sussex.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing or supported accommodation.
• Strong understanding of occupancy agreements, rent management, welfare benefits and tenancy sustainment.
• Ability to manage arrears, ASB, and other non-compliance issues using restorative approaches.
• Good knowledge of housing legislation, safeguarding procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with statutory and voluntary services available to young people and ability to work proactively with a caseload to support progression towards independent living.

Responsibilities

• Housing and Compliance: Help residents understand and comply with occupancy agreements and meet house rules.
• Promote rent payments and explain financial obligations to residents.
• Maintain knowledge of housing legislation, welfare benefits and statutory requirements affecting young people.
• Respond to breaches of agreement, including rent arrears, ASB, or property damage, using restorative approaches.
• Coaching and Engagement: Coach residents to articulate aspirations and take lead in developing skills for independent living.
• Encourage residents to engage with services, build strong networks, and maintain safeguarding standards.
• Maintain client records on In-Form detailing progression, risks and outcomes.
• There will be lone-working times with induction and training before starting on a rota.
