Job summary

YMCA Doncaster is seeking Housing Workers to support 30 young residents in our housing project. You will oversee building, behaviour, and daily operations, including patrols and incident reporting.

The role is varied, requires reliability, written communication, and the ability to carry out maintenance tasks and cleaning. You will work alone on shifts and contribute to a 24-hour, year-round service.

Qualifications

• Able to complete forms and paperwork accurately.
• Able to understand and follow written instructions and standard procedures.
• Able to communicate in writing, including recording shift logs and completing incident reports.
• Able to carry out patrols indoors and outdoors, including stairways.
• Able to carry out cleaning tasks and basic maintenance/repairs.
• Able to work reliably on shifts and alone without supervision.
• Respectful handling of confidential information and professional boundaries.
• Ability to engage with young people and support their development.

Responsibilities

• Attend shifts reliably and on time to ensure continuous cover.
• Carry out daily administrative tasks, including taking rent and answering calls.
• Manage client move-ins/move-outs, inductions and related paperwork.
• Provide a visible security presence, patrolling premises and addressing issues.
• Ensure buildings and entry points are secure.
• Clean communal areas, bathrooms and vacant bedrooms as needed.
• Liaise with emergency services and professionals as required.
• Monitor CCTV and coordinate with police to prevent damage.
• Maintain shift logs and incident records accurately.
• Oversee contractors for maintenance tasks and routine safety checks.
• Develop professional relationships with residents and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
• Participate in a 24-hour, year-round rota.
