Job summary

BRC in Trowbridge is seeking a Youth Support Officer to work with young people aged 16-25 facing homelessness and housing challenges. The role is full-time on a two-week shift rota including sleep-ins, with a starting salary of £13.83 per hour plus holiday pay, and a path from temporary to permanent placement.

You will provide day-to-day guidance, housing support and practical life-skills coaching, building independence and resilience for residents while maintaining safeguarding and professional

Qualifications

• Experience in a support, youth work, housing or similar role.
• Experience carrying out assessments and creating support plans.
• Ability to manage a caseload and monitor progress.
• Understanding safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Strong communication and trust-building with young people.
• Organised, adaptable and able to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver one-to-one tailored support helping independence.
• Carry out initial assessments and develop support plans.
• Complete risk assessments and monitor changes in residents.
• Help access benefits, manage finances and budgeting.
• Provide guidance on education, employment and training.
• Encourage routines and engagement with the local community.
• Assist with move-on plans and independent accommodation.
• Monitor accommodation standards and report maintenance.
• Recognise safeguarding concerns and take action.
• Maintain case notes and documentation.
• Build relationships with external agencies for support.
• Create a welcoming, safe environment for residents.
