Job summary

LiveWest is seeking a Youth Development Worker to deliver a responsive, person-led service for young people across Cornwall East. You will work 37 hours per week, with some flexibility for evenings or weekends, and rotate across Hendra Lodge, Carthew House, Bodmin Foyer and Truro Foyer to support independent living goals.

You will build relationships, maintain up-to-date support plans, and help young people access education, training, and employment while safeguarding and promoting a safe,

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with varied strengths, needs and aspirations.
• Understanding homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, self-harm and offending behaviour.
• Experience maintaining accurate records and putting effective support or action plans in place.
• Understanding of needs assessments, risk assessments and safeguarding.
• The resilience and flexibility to respond to changing needs and challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people.
• Manage a caseload and maintain clear, up-to-date support plans, risk assessments and case records.
• Provide one-to-one coaching, advocacy and practical support tailored to each young person.
• Support young people to develop confidence, employability, budgeting and independent living skills.
• Plan and deliver activities that encourage learning, participation and personal development.
• Help young people access education, training, employment and specialist support.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, external organisations and partner agencies.
• Safeguard young people and contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive service.
