Job summary

LiveWest is seeking a Youth Development Worker to provide person-led support for young people in Cornwall West services. You will engage through one-to-one coaching and group activities, helping clients build life skills for independent living and future employment.

This role involves safeguarding, case management and working on a rota, typically 37 hours per week with some weekend work. Flexible arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience of working effectively with young people with varied strengths, needs and aspirations.
• Understanding of homelessness, mental health, substance misuse, self-harm and offending behaviour.
• Experience of maintaining accurate records and putting effective support or action plans in place.
• Knowledge of welfare and housing benefits.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
• Manage caseloads and maintain support plans, risk assessments and case records.
• Provide one-to-one coaching, advocacy and practical support.
• Support development of confidence, budgeting and independent living skills.
• Plan and deliver activities to encourage learning and development.
• Assist access to education, training, employment and specialist support.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external organisations.
