Job description

Relief Youth Development Worker (West Cornwall)

Are you enthusiastic and motivated? Do you want to help make a positive difference in the lives of those we support to promote independence, wellbeing and recovery? Are you able to work flexibly? If so, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for Relief Youth Development Workers to work in our Young People Schemes in West Cornwall:

  • Redruth Foyer, Redruth
  • Carn Brea Foyer, Redruth

You will be working as part of a larger Support team to provide support services to our Young people aged 16 - 25. The role includes supporting people to manage their tenancy, understanding benefits and encouraging positive life skills like budgeting, wellbeing and social inclusion.

You will be working shifts on an adhoc basis. You will support and monitor the conduct, health and safety and general welfare of residents with a flexible and sensitive approach.

This role is being offered on a relief contract basis, working flexibly to include days at the scheme as and when required. Sometimes there will be other colleagues on site but you may also be required to lone work at times on site.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups and expect all colleagues to share this commitment. Appointment to the post will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

About The Candidate:
  • Ideally have experience of lone working.
  • Have the ability to assess and manage risk.
  • Be able to demonstrate the skills required to support individuals.
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of adult vulnerabilities in a supported housing environment.
  • Have the ability to adopt a methodical, organised approach to work.

If you are able to work flexibly, and have the above experience, we would love to hear from you.

This role is not eligible for Cos. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without requiring a CoS.

Our Reward and Benefits:
  • Generous Annual Leave: Start with 26 days, plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days with length of service - and the option to purchase up to 5 extra days (pro rated for part time roles).
  • Pension Contributions: Enjoy up to 9% employer contributions with our Defined Contribution scheme.
  • Health Benefits and Perks: Access to a health care cash plan (worth up to £1,100 annually), virtual GP services, discounted gym memberships, and retail discounts including access to a Blue Light Card.

  • Wellbeing Matters: Prioritise your health with mental health support, enhanced sick pay, wellness campaigns, and free flu jabs.
  • Smarter Travel: Save with our Cycle to Work and Car Benefit schemes.
  • Giving Back: Up to four paid volunteering days a year to support our communities.
