Job summary

BCP Council is seeking a proactive Careers Adviser on an 11-month fixed term contract in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. Starting salary is £35,570 pro rata for part-time colleagues, with clear pay progression within the band and a focus on helping Year 12 and 13 learners stay engaged.

You will provide impartial careers information, guidance and support to young people, track destinations, identify at-risk learners, and work with schools, colleges and partners to secure positive onward

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people facing barriers to participation or progression.
• Knowledge of post-16 and post-18 pathways including FE, apprenticeships and training.
• Experience delivering careers guidance or targeted employability support.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills and record-keeping ability.

Responsibilities

• Track and record participation and destinations for Year 12/13 learners.
• Identify NEET risks and implement targeted interventions.
• Maintain regular contact with NEETs and provide personal action plans.
• Deliver impartial careers information through 1:1 and group sessions.
• Collaborate with schools, colleges, providers, employers, and partners.
• Use data to spot trends, monitor risk and support service improvement.
• Support local authority duties on participation and destinations tracking.
• Maintain accurate case notes in line with data governance.
