Job summary

Connect2Hampshire invites applications for a Training Careers Advisor within Hampshire Futures. You will deliver one-to-one and group sessions in schools/colleges to help young people navigate post-16 and post-18 options, including FE, apprenticeships, training and employment. DBS checks and safeguarding training are essential.

The role supports development within a high-performing local authority service and works with partners to help young people progress successfully.

Qualifications

  • Level 6 Career Guidance qualification (or currently working towards this).
  • English and maths qualifications (minimum Level 2).
  • Degree or equivalent in a related field.
  • Level 3 English and maths qualifications (Desirable).
  • Level 4 Career Guidance qualification or equivalent (Desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of current participation legislation and best practice.
  • Understanding barriers young people face in progression including SEN/SEND.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding requirements and up-to-date training.
  • Experience delivering services in schools/colleges/local authorities to improve outcomes for young people.
  • Experience with SEN/SEND and working in a team.
  • Experience contributing to quality assurance processes.
  • Experience using social media to engage with young people, parents/carers and/or employers (Desirable).

Training Careers Advisor

Location: Various


Contract Type: Bank


Salary £19.47 per hour



As a Careers Adviser, you will join Hampshire Futures, part of the Participation and Lifelong Learning Service within Hampshire County Council's Children's Services Directorate. You will work as part of a collaborative and supportive team, alongside colleagues and Business Support staff who play a key role in enabling the service to run effectively.



Through one-to-one and group sessions in schools and/or colleges, you will help young people make informed decisions at key transition points and understand the full range of post-16 and post-18 options, including further education, apprenticeships, training and employment.



Working closely with education providers and partners, you will contribute to a joined-up approach that supports young people to participate, succeed and progress. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your career within a high-performing and forward-thinking local authority service.

  • DBS Enhanced Check with Children's Barred List, Child workforce Essential



Qualifications


Essential


  • Level 6 Career Guidance qualification (or currently working towards this).

  • Level 4 Career Guidance qualification or equivalent.



Knowledge

  • Understanding of the barriers young people face in achieving successful and sustained post-16 and post-18 progression, including those with SEN and SEND.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding requirements and a commitment to maintaining up-to-date training.



Experience


Essential


  • Experience of delivering services in a school, college, local authority or similar setting that improve outcomes for young people.

  • Experience of working with young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience of contributing to quality assurance processes that support continuous improvement.

  • Experience of using social media to engage with young people, parents/carers and/or employers.
