This is a permanent position, on what is called a temp to perm – a very quick start, beginning as a temp and then transferring onto a permanent contract after 12 weeks.

Semester Recruitment specializes in supporting young people aged 5-18 in supported living, semi-independent accommodation, and children’s residential homes.

We are currently looking for Support and Youth Workers to provide ongoing support to Care Leavers in the area.

The shifts are 24-hour sleep-over shifts, with a pattern of 1 on 2 off.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a salary of £30K plus a £50 weekly bonus.

Our client is a leading provider of care to young people and is recruiting Support Workers to join their home in Burnley, supporting care leavers aged 15-18 to increase their independence skills.

It is essential that you have experience working in similar settings and preferably have completed NVQ3 in Children & Young People Workforce or a similar qualification.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High standard of general education.
• NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care – Children and Young People (CCYP) or equivalent.
• Willingness to undertake further training.
• Current full driving license with business insurance (preferable).

Job Purpose

To be responsible for providing support to vulnerable people (service users) for the company.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Assist the young person's social worker in service delivery, including:

• Providing transport/escort as per care plans.
• Conducting welcome and induction for young people.
• Ongoing needs assessments.
• Providing support and monitoring.
• Assisting with welfare and NHS issues.
• Preparing reports.
• Arranging appointments with partner agencies.
• Maintaining contact with young people.
• Informing about support groups.
• Assisting with move-on procedures.

Some shifts may also be 24 hours (sleepovers), offering great flexibility, typically 2-3 days a week, full-time hours.
