Job summary

CARERS NORTHUMBERLAND is seeking a warm and motivated Young Carer Support Worker to join our team in Ashington. You will build trusted relationships with young carers, provide a safe space to talk, and support their wellbeing and resilience through 1-to-1 and group activities in schools.

The role requires empathy, patience and resilience, with travel across Northumberland and access to your own transport. This fixed-term position is 22.5 hours per week, based at our Central Office in Ashington,

• Willingness to travel to meetings and events across Northumberland and access to own transport.

Carers Northumberland is looking for a warm, approachable, and motivated Young Carer Support Worker to join our team.We are looking for someone who can build trusted relationships with young carers, providing a safe space to talk, help them understand and manage the impact of their caring role, supporting their wellbeing, and increasing their confidence and resilience.The key elements of this role include offering 1-to-1 support and group activities in schools, building positive relationships with young carers, working closely with school staff, families and other professionals, and helping to shape the Young Carer Service.

The work we do is incredibly varied, and our staff team come from a range of different backgrounds.We are looking for someone who is empathetic, patient, non-judgemental, resilience and outcome focused.Experience of working with children and young people is essential.You will be required to travel to meetings and events throughout Northumberland and due to the nature of the county access to your own transport is needed.
