Job summary

Balfour Beatty is offering a Year in Industry placement for a Quantity Surveying student based in Bradford. You’ll join our Regional Civils team and work on major infrastructure projects, gaining hands-on experience in cost control, procurement, and contract management from day one.

You’ll support live projects, prepare commercial records and cost information, and collaborate with project teams. A full UK driving licence is required to travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Enrolled on a university degree programme that includes a placement year (placement year required).
• Studying towards a degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant field.
• Placement lasting 9–12 months with start dates between June and September.

Responsibilities

• Support the commercial management of major infrastructure and construction projects.
• Assist with cost reporting, forecasting, valuations and financial performance monitoring.
• Prepare and maintain commercial records, contract documentation and project cost information.
• Support subcontract procurement activities, including tendering, quotation analysis and subcontract administration.
