Job summary

Workington Academy is seeking a Year Group Manager to act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer and lead attendance and wellbeing initiatives for a year group. You will support pupils with social, emotional, behavioural and attendance needs and coordinate with staff and external partners to ensure timely interventions.

The role requires strong safeguarding commitment, confidentiality, and excellent organisation and communication skills within a secondary education setting.

Qualifications

• Experience with young people in educational or pastoral settings.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent organisational, time-management and administrative abilities.
• Confidence with attendance systems, behaviour processes and safeguarding procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a pastoral team.
• Absolute respect for confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer and manage a child protection caseload.
• Lead attendance monitoring and intervention for the year group.
• Support students with social, emotional, behavioural and attendance needs.
• Collaborate with Directors, pastoral teams and external agencies to meet student needs.
• Communicate with parents and carers; contribute to assemblies and wider academy events.
• Use data to identify concerns and implement timely, effective interventions.
