Job summary

Desian Education is seeking a dedicated Year 6 Teacher for a welcoming Southport primary school, starting January 2027. This full-time, long-term post focuses on supporting pupils through KS2 and preparing them for a successful transition to secondary education.

You will plan, deliver and assess lessons in line with the National Curriculum, with a emphasis on SATs preparation and targeted intervention to help every pupil reach their potential.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Full Enhanced DBS.
• Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6.
• Confident delivering the Upper Key Stage 2 curriculum.
• Experience preparing pupils for SATs is desirable.
• Strong behaviour management and classroom organisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for a Year 6 class planning, delivering and assessing lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
• Preparing pupils for SATs and supporting them to achieve their targets.
• Delivering engaging and challenging lessons across the curriculum.
• Creating a positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.
• Monitoring pupil progress and implementing targeted interventions where required.
• Working closely with teaching assistants, colleagues and senior leaders.
• Building strong relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
• Contributing to the wider life of the school.
