Job summary

Hays Education in Wolverhampton is seeking an experienced Year 5 Teacher for a maternity cover from November 2026 to May 2027. You will deliver engaging lessons, adapt planning to pupil needs and work within a collaborative team to support pupil achievement.

The role includes dedicated PPA time and opportunities to access safeguarding and CPD training through Hays Education, with a competitive daily rate and holiday pay.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 2.
• Strong knowledge of the Year 5 curriculum and effective behaviour management.

Responsibilities

• Teach a Year 5 class within Key Stage 2 using engaging, creative lessons aligned to the National Curriculum.
• Utilise existing planning and adapt lessons to meet pupil needs.
• Assess, monitor and track pupil progress and maintain a positive learning environment.

Hays Education are working in partnership with a friendly and supportive junior school in Wolverhampton to recruit an experienced Year 5 Teacher for a maternity cover position from November 2026 until May 2027.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a school that is committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive and inspiring learning environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. Planning will already be in place, allowing you to focus on delivering engaging lessons while adapting resources and teaching approaches to meet the needs of your pupils. The role also includes allocated PPA time to support workload and planning responsibilities.

Your new role:

• Teaching a Year 5 class within Key Stage 2
• Delivering engaging and creative lessons in line with the National Curriculum
• Using existing planning and adapting lessons where appropriate to suit the needs of the class
• Assessing, monitoring and tracking pupil progress
• Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
• Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and support staff
• Dedicated PPA time provided
