Job summary

Academics Ltd, a education recruitment agency, is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant in Barry to support a Year 4 pupil with ALN. The role starts in October 2026 on a temporary basis with potential for long-term continuation depending on funding and pupil needs.

You will provide focused 1:1 support to help the pupil access learning, assist with classroom activities, and promote social interaction and independence under the guidance of the class teacher and ALNCo.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months' experience supporting children with ALN or complex needs, ideally in a 1:1 role.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply through Academics.
• Relevant ALN, SEN, or behaviour support qualifications or training are desirable.
• A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach, with strong communication and teamwork skills.
