Job summary

Education World is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Washington from September 2026. The role is part-time, mornings 08:45–12:15, commencing as an ongoing assignment.

You will work with the class teacher to deliver targeted activities, adapt resources, and help the pupil access the curriculum while fostering confidence, independence and social progress in a caring school environment.

Qualifications

• Previous classroom support experience is essential.
• Experience working with primary-aged children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach to supporting individual pupils.
• The ability to build positive relationships with children, colleagues and families.
• Good organisational skills and ability to work within a school team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil throughout the school morning.
• Help the pupil access classroom learning and participate in lessons.
• Deliver targeted learning activities and interventions with the class teacher.
• Adapt resources and teaching strategies to meet the pupil's needs.
• Promote positive behaviour, confidence, independence and engagement.
• Build a supportive relationship with pupil, promoting academic and personal development.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to the class teacher.
• Collaborate with staff and parents to ensure consistent support.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and school policies at all times.
