Job summary

Step Teachers are currently seeking a Year 2 Teaching Assistant for a Catholic primary school in Mossley, Ashton-under-Lyne. This full-time, long-term opportunity offers immediate start and a supportive environment focused on safeguarding and holistic pupil development.

You will support pupils one-to-one and in small groups, assist with lesson delivery, and help raise literacy and numeracy skills while promoting positive behaviour and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with primary-aged children is desirable
• Experience within a school or educational setting is advantageous
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Understanding of Key Stage 1 learning and development
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Responsibilities

• Support pupils within a Year 2 classroom on a one-to-one and small-group basis
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
• Help develop pupils' literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
• Support children preparing for Key Stage 1 assessments
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Assist with classroom preparation and organisation
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
