Job summary

Derby City Council is recruiting Teaching Assistants for two posts at St James C of E Infant and Nursery School. The role supports a Year 2 class, with term-time only hours, 35 hours per week from 8.00am to 3.30pm, and a maternity cover that may become permanent.

Start date November 2026. The successful candidate will need to be open to learning new strategies and to use positive behaviour techniques to help children develop social and emotional skills, ensuring inclusive education for all

Qualifications

• Experience using positive behaviour strategies to engage children in learning activities.
• Good communication, ICT and organisational skills are required.
• Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding principles.

Responsibilities

• Support children within Year 2 class.
• Assist with learning activities and adapt resources to meet individual needs.
• Promote social and emotional development and readiness to learn.
