Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a Year 2 Teaching Assistant for a welcoming primary school in the Washwood Heath area of Birmingham. The role is full-time, long-term temporary, starting September 2026, supporting Year 2 pupils with reading, writing and maths.

The role offers daily pay of £110–£120, with responsibilities including phonics, targeted interventions, and supporting pupils with varied learning needs; you'll work within a busy KS1 team, promoting confidence and good behaviour.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
• Previous experience supporting children in KS1.
• Confidence with phonics and early reading.
• Experience working with pupils with varied learning needs and abilities.
• A proactive approach and strong communication with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the class teacher with daily Year 2 learning.
• Delivering targeted phonics, reading and maths interventions.
• Working with individuals and small groups who need additional support.
• Helping pupils stay focused and engaged during lessons.
• Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and good communication.
