Job summary

Provide Education- South Yorkshire is seeking a Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant for the S64 area. The role is part-time, afternoons, Monday to Friday, 12:45pm–3:15pm, starting 5th October 2026. You will support a Year 1 pupil with SEN, helping access learning and build independence, in a warm, inclusive classroom.

The ideal candidate is patient, nurturing and confident with additional needs. DBS checks and QTS/equivalent qualifications are required for placement.

Qualifications

• Patience, nurturing and confidence to support children with additional needs.
• Experience working with SEN pupils in a primary school setting.
• Willingness to obtain enhanced DBS check and qualifications verification.
• QTS or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for a Year 1 pupil with SEN.
• Support pupil's learning, development and engagement in the classroom.
• Help implement strategies to meet pupil's individual needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction and independence.
• Work closely with class teacher and wider school team.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
