Balfor Recruitment Group is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) for a 1:1 support role at a vibrant special needs school in Sutton Coldfield. You will provide targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to students with a range of needs, supporting teachers with lesson prep and classroom displays.

The ideal candidate will have a Qualified Teaching Assistant or SEN background, Level 1 Safeguarding, and a proactive, empathetic approach.

Competenze

• Qualified Teaching Assistant or SEN background required.
• Experience or training with PECS, Makaton, ASD, SLD and complex needs.
• Level 1 Safeguarding Certificate and an enhanced DBS are required.

SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) – 1:1 Support

Location: Sutton Coldfield
Duration: Full time, ongoing
Salary: £85 – £100 per day

As an SEN TA, you will be a key member of the classroom team, ensuring students receive support that assists them to achieve their full potential. Responsibilities will include:

• Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions to students with additional needs
• Supporting teachers with creative lesson preparation, classroom organisation, and engaging displays
• Building trusting, nurturing relationships with students to encourage independence and confidence
• Acting as a positive role model while fostering a safe and inclusive environment

• Demonstrate proven experience or strong enthusiasm for working as an SEN TA
• Show commitment to inclusive learning and best SEN practices

Requirements:

• Qualified Teaching Assistant OR relevant SEN background
• Experience or training with PECS, Makaton, ASD, SLD, and complex needs
• Level 1 Safeguarding Certificate
• Recent school-based references
• Valid photo ID (Driving Licence or Passport)
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
