Job summary

Aspire People is seeking a Year 1 Teaching Assistant in Walsall to provide tailored 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them access learning and build confidence in the school day.

You will work closely with teachers and SENCOs, support planned activities, help manage behaviour positively, and contribute to the pupil's social and emotional development within a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis in a school setting.
• Understanding of SEN/additional needs and how to support learning.
• Patience, empathy and excellent communication.
• Proactive approach to supporting learning.

Responsibilities

Year 1 121 Teaching Assistant - Walsall

Are you passionate about making a difference in children's lives? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 121 Teaching Assistants to join our Aspire Team and work in one of our schools in Walsall. This role involves providing tailored support to a pupil on a one-to-one basis, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and thrive within the school environment in their Year 1 class.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to a pupil with additional needs, both in and out of the classroom.


• Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities.


• Help to manage behaviour in a positive and consistent way.


• Support the pupil's social and emotional development.


• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children (ideally in a school setting).


• Understanding of supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) or additional needs.


• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.


• A positive and proactive approach to supporting learning.


• Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential.
