Job summary

CablePrice (NZ) Ltd is seeking a motivated Yardperson for our Nelson Branch. The role supports technicians, cleans machinery and the yard, and moves equipment to customer sites. A Class 2 licence is preferred or willing to obtain one, and a current full driver’s licence is essential.

You will also assist with workshop tasks, manage the tool store, and help with health, safety and environmental initiatives while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation.

Qualifications

• Must have a current full driver's licence (essential).
• Class 2 licence preferred or willing to obtain.
• Positive, self-motivated and reliable with safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Clean machinery and vehicles; maintain tidy yard and workshop.
• Load/unload machinery, attachments, freight and equipment.
• Transport small plant and equipment to customers and job sites.
• Assist technicians with workshop activities and general operational support.
• Manage tool store including tracking, repairs and maintenance.
• Coordinate vehicle servicing, WOF, COF and compliance checks.
• Complete vehicle/plant inspections and health, safety and environment initiatives.
• Carry out general site and yard maintenance duties.

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Yardperson to join our busy Nelson Branch. This is a varied role that plays a vital part in supporting our technicians, assist with maintaining the cleanliness of our site, grooming of machines/vehicles and moving heavy vehicles from our site to customer sites (Class 2 drivers license preferable or willing to obtain). The successful candidate will be proactive, safety-focused, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

You'll be responsible for:

• Cleaning machinery and vehicles, yard cleaning, this will include but not limited to water blasting, and keeping the yard and workshop to a tidy standard
• Loading and unloading machinery, attachments, freight, and equipment
• Transporting and delivering small plant and equipment to customers and job sites
• Assisting technicians with workshop activities and general operational support
• Managing the tool store, including tool tracking, repairs, maintenance and continued improvement
• Arranging and coordinating vehicle servicing, WOF, COF, and compliance requirements
• Completing vehicle and plant inspections, including Assura checks
• Assisting with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives and improvements
• Carrying out general site and yard maintenance duties
