Job summary

Eastlight Community Homes is seeking a reliable Yard Operative to support our trades teams by maintaining a safe, clean yard and stores environment in Colchester. You will manage stock, tools and vehicles to ensure materials are available for the delivery of housing services.

Working with the Logistics & Fleet Manager, you will carry out waste management, asset tracking, and site access duties while following health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Clean UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the yard and stores.
• Manage waste and skip exchanges, ensuring correct waste segregation.
• Carry out PAT testing and ladder inspections.
• Issue, track and audit tools, ladders and other assets.
• Complete deliveries, collections and van stock replenishment.
• Monitor stock levels and raise purchase orders when required.
• Support vehicle checks and preparation.
• Act as a site keyholder, opening and closing the premises.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and contribute to safe working practices.
• Assist customers and colleagues with enquiries.
• Support continuous improvement of yard and store operations.
• Maintain the re-use shop and special orders register.
