Job summary

ST Selection is seeking an experienced Yard Manager in Erith (near Dartford) to oversee yard, workshop and driver teams, ensuring safe, efficient operations and top-notch equipment presentation. The role emphasizes health and safety, stock control and cost management.

You’ll lead teams, manage depots, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of kit upkeep and customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Organise and manage yard, workshop, and driver personnel, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and safety.
• Maintain standard and quality of all kit in the depot (Mechanical Plant, FLTs, HGVs, Vans).
• Ensure equipment testing and maintenance are sustained.
• Keep yard premises and environments well-kept.
• Oversee storage, loading and dispatch of equipment.
• Record and manage yard costs and expenditure.

Yard Manager

Erith, Nr Dartford

£42,500 + bonus

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Yard Manager to join the team of a national company that supplies specialist equipment to the construction industry.

Role & Responsibilities

• Ensuring all Health & Safety good practices are being adhered to.
• Organising and managing yard, workshop, and driver personnel, ensuring they work efficiently, effectively and safely.
• Maintaining the standard and quality of all the kit in the depot, including all Mechanical Plant, FLT’s HGV’s, Vans, etc.
• Ensuring the presentation, testing and maintenance of equipment, plant and infrastructure is sustained.
• Maintaining and continuing the upkeep of yard premises and other working environments within the depot.
• Overseeing the storage, loading and dispatch of equipment.
• Assessing damages and advising accordingly.
• Stock control and management, including organising stock takes.
• Accurate recording and managing all yard costs and expenditure.
• Liaising with team members and other departments and depots to ensure customer orders are satisfied and prioritising work to meet order requirements.
• Conducting Toolbox Talks and training sessions as appropriate.

• A technical background with the ability to read engineering drawings, experience within a construction/ groundwork’s environment is preferable
