Job summary

The Clancy Group Limited is seeking a proactive Yard Person in Lenham to oversee the yard’s upkeep, safety, and efficiency. You will handle materials, assist with deliveries, and support daily operations while maintaining accurate records and adhering to safety regulations.

Candidate should be comfortable with outdoor physical work, driving duties, and operating yard machinery as required. The role offers a competitive salary, pension, healthcare, and generous holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in stores and material handling in a utilities or construction yard.
• Proven ability to work outdoors in varying weather and perform physical labour.
• Clean UK Driving Licence is essential; forklift and HGV licence are a plus.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety regulations, use PPE, and report hazards.
• Assist with deliveries and coordinate material/equipment requests.
• Maintain accurate records of materials and equipment and complete inventory paperwork.
• Manage the skips on site and ensure correct disposal to minimise environmental impact.
• Monitor vehicles to ensure compliance with depot safety and driving rules.
• Assist with stock checks as required.
• Keep the yard clean and tidy and perform routine inspections.

Job description

We have an opportunity for a Yard Person to join our team in Lenham. As a Yard Person you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, organisation, and cleanliness of the yard area. This role involves handling, moving, and storing various materials, tools, and equipment. The Yard Person ensures that the yard is safe, efficient, and operationally ready for daily activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various weather conditions. Here are some of the activities you will be involved with…

• Follow all safety regulations, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any hazards immediately.
• Assist with deliveries, coordinate material and equipment requests, and support daily operations.
• Maintain accurate records of materials and equipment, complete inventory paperwork, and communicate effectively with the team.
• Manage the skips on site, ensuring that all refuse and materials are correctly disposed of in the appropriate skips minimising environmental impact by recycling at every opportunity.
• Monitoring all vehicles, ensuring they comply with depot site safety and driving rules.
• Assist with the stock checks as and when required.
• Keep the yard clean and tidy, perform routine inspections. That's why we need people like you to help us deliver on our promises. A full & valid UK Driving Licence, is essential. If you can also operate a forklift and possess a HGV licence, even better! Working conditions primarily involve outdoor work in various weather conditions, with physical labour such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
