Job summary

Hough Green Garage is seeking a Yard Operator to join our depot team in a full-time capacity. Your role will revolve around supporting daily operations, prioritising tasks, and maintaining a high standard of service and safety.

You will work with colleagues to ensure efficient, compliant depot processes while delivering excellent customer service and handling documentation securely. A forklift licence and driving entitlement are beneficial for the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in a depot/auto service environment is advantageous.
• Forklift truck licence is desirable.
• Clean driving licence desirable.
• Towing entitlement desirable.
• Good knowledge of local area is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day depot operations as part of a team.
• Provide consistently high levels of customer service.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and legislation.
• Promote a strong Health & Safety culture across the depot.
• Ensure processes are completed accurately and efficiently.

Yard Operator

Location: Telford

Salary: £13.00 per hour

Vacancy Type: Permanent, Fill time

Hough Green Garage is a market leader in the provision of 24-hour Breakdown and Recovery Services, with over 40 years of industry experience. We operate 365 days a year, supporting Local Authorities, Emergency Services, Motoring Organisations, private companies, and members of the public on a national basis.

Yard Operator, you will play an integral role within a wider team, helping to deliver a consistently high standard of service without compromise.

Using your initiative, strong organisational skills and attention to detail, you will be responsible for prioritising daily tasks and supporting the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the depot.

This is a demanding role with high expectations, requiring someone who is proactive, reliable and able to remain calm and effective when working under pressure.

The Role

Key responsibilities and skills include:

• Working as part of a team to support the successful and efficient day-to-day operation of the depot.
• Providing a consistently high level of customer service.
• Ensuring all company procedures, policies and relevant legislation are followed.
• Promoting and maintaining a strong Health & Safety culture throughout the depot.
• Ensuring all depot processes and procedures are completed accurately and efficiently.
• Communicating clearly and effectively with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders.
• Ensuring all documentation and personal information is handled securely and in accordance with the company's GDPR policies.
• Supporting the general organisation, administration and day-to-day running of the depot.
• Prioritising tasks effectively to meet operational requirements and deadlines.

• Has previous experience operating a forklift truck.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

The following would be advantageous:

• Knowledge or experience within the automotive industry.
• A clean, valid driving licence.
• Towing entitlement.
• A valid forklift truck licence.
• Good geographical knowledge and awareness of the local area.
