Job summary

Holcim Tilbury Docks is seeking a Yard Operative to join our team near Tilbury. This on-site role requires reliability, proactivity and a willingness to learn, with standard hours Monday to Friday.

The position pays £14 per hour, with a 1-2 year contract and potential to become permanent. Training is provided for operating a loading shovel, and duties include plant maintenance, site upkeep and health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Desirable CSCS Card or MP Connect.
• Willingness to learn and operate at height.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining the Asphalt plant and performing basic maintenance.
• Work at height as part of maintenance tasks.
• Keep the site clean and orderly.
• Operate loading shovel (training provided).
• Observe site CCTV from monitoring station.
• Use plant control computer and navigate works programs.
• Communicate via tannoy and two-way radio.
• Adhere to highest health and safety standards.

We have a Yard Operative position available within Holcim Tilbury Docks.This role is ideal for someone who considers themself to be reliable, proactive and eager to learn.

Rate:

£14.00 per hour

Hours:

Standard hours are Monday - Friday

7am-6pm with a 30mins unpaid lunch and overtime available. However, It's an on demand job driven by customer needs, once on site a rotation will be put in place with the team, some days you may start earlier, some later. Flexibility is needed.

1-2 year contract with the potential to go permanent

Responsibilities:

• Maintaining the Asphalt plant including basic maintenance
• Working at height (via ladder) as part of maintenance
• Maintaining the site including cleaning duties
• Driving a loading shovel (training provided)
• Observing the site CCTV from the monitoring station
• Using the computer control system for the plant
• Navigating the program of works via computer
• Using tannoy and 2 way radio to communicate with site
• Practising the highest standards of Health and Safety at all times
• Strong work ethic and desire to learn
• CSCS Card or MP Connect would be desirable
• Ability to work at height
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to conduct manual handling
• Sound IT literacy skills
• Some knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
