Job summary

Holcim Tilbury Docks is seeking a Concrete Plant Operative to join the on-site team at Tilbury RM18 7EH. You will manage automated production, monitor inventories, and perform calibrations and basic repairs to ensure consistent mix quality.

The role runs Monday–Friday, 7am–6pm with a 30-minute lunch and overtime. It is a 1–2 year contract with potential to go permanent; starting ASAP, with opportunities for progression and on-site duties.

Responsibilities

• Program and monitor mix designs in computer-controlled plant systems.
• Use computer control systems and site communications to coordinate work.

We have a Concrete Plant Operative position available within Holcim Tilbury Docks.This role is ideal for someone who considers themself to be reliable, proactive and eager to learn.

Rate:

£14.00 per hour

Hours:

Standard hours are Monday - Friday

7am-6pm with a 30mins unpaid lunch and overtime available. However, It's an on demand job driven by customer needs, once on site a rotation will be put in place with the team, some days you may start early, some later. Flexibility is needed.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the automated and mechanical production of concrete.
• Inspect and monitor inventory levels for cement, aggregates
• Conduct pre-shift walkarounds, routine machinery calibrations, minor repairs, and cleaning of belts, silos, and mixers
• Program and monitor approved mix designs into computer-controlled plant systems to ensure precise measurement and consistency.
• Using the computer control system for the plant
• Navigating the program of works via computer
• Using tannoy and 2 way radio to communicate with site
• Practising the highest standards of Health and Safety at all times
• Strong work ethic and desire to learn
• Previous construction experience desirable but open to other backgrounds
• CSCS Card or MP Connect would be desirable
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to conduct manual handling
• Sound IT literacy skills
• Some knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
