Job summary

Wernick Hire, the UK’s largest provider of modular buildings and site accommodation, seeks a Yard Operative/Handyperson to maintain, repair and prepare units at the depot. You will service welfare units, perform site repairs and keep the yard neat and safe, contributing to depot success.

Ideal candidates have hands-on skills in plumbing, joinery or electrical work, with strong time management and team spirit. The role is full-time and on-site, with a competitive salary and bonus scheme.

Qualifications

• Experience in plumbing, joinery, or electrical work is beneficial.
• Able to multi-task and prioritise a busy workload.
• Experience in cabin fitting is a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and upkeep of cabins and buildings (cleaning, painting, maintenance).
• Servicing mobile welfare units to keep them in top condition.
• Carry out repairs after site visits.

About the role

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and Upkeep: Clean, paint, and perform general maintenance on cabins and buildings as directed.

• Servicing: Service mobile welfare units to ensure they’re in top condition.

• Repairs: Conduct site visits to carry out necessary repairs promptly.

• Furniture Management: Check and store furniture returned to the yard, ensuring it’s properly removed from cabins and placed back in storage.

• Forklift Maintenance: Keep the forklift truck in excellent working order.

• Efficiency: Minimise material wastage and assist with the safe loading and unloading of cabins, buildings, and materials.

• Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised yard and workshop at all times.

• Safety Compliance: Adhere to current health and safety legislation to ensure a safe working environment.

Skills and Experience:

• Technical Expertise: Experience in plumbing, joinery, or electrical work is highly beneficial.

• Multitasking: Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload effectively.
