Job summary

Wernick Hire is seeking a proactive Yard Operative/Handyperson to maintain and prepare modular buildings and site accommodations. You will perform cleaning, painting, servicing of welfare units, and assist with repairs and logistics on site. This hands-on role supports depot efficiency and safety standards.

Key tasks include managing cabin furniture, forklift maintenance, and ensuring a tidy, compliant yard. Close collaboration with depot teams and a strong safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

Experience in plumbing, joinery or electrical work is highly beneficial.
Ability to multitask and prioritise a busy workload effectively.
Experience in cabin fitting is a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities

Maintenance and upkeep: Clean, paint, and perform general maintenance on cabins and buildings as directed.
Servicing: Service mobile welfare units to ensure they’re in top condition.
Repairs: Conduct site visits to carry out necessary repairs promptly.
Furniture management: Check and store furniture returned to the yard, ensuring it’s properly removed from cabins and placed back in storage.
Forklift maintenance: Keep the forklift truck in excellent working order.
Efficiency: Minimise material wastage and assist with the safe loading and unloading of cabins, buildings, and materials.
Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised yard and workshop at all times.
