JOB PURPOSE

A yard operative needs to be willing to drive mobile plant and learn the use of bagging machines on site. They need to be able to work in all weather conditions and within a highly motivated team, with good communication being fundamental to the role. Manual work is required daily.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an important role within GRS, with primary responsibility to:

• Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production of bagged aggregates.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times, reporting any issues, accidents, and near misses to the line manager.
• Work as part of a high-performing team to produce bagged aggregates for customers, focusing on quality and production targets.
• Operate a forklift truck, depending on site requirements.
• Complete fixed plant and mobile plant inspections.
• Bag aggregates in plastic and bulk bags to the required target levels; relevant training will be provided.
• Net and sheet lorries as requested by the line manager.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as requested.
• Maintain good communication with drivers, yard operatives, and delivery drivers.
• Ensure compliance with legal duties related to HR and health & safety to promote a safe, equitable, and legally compliant workplace.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Good knowledge of health and safety (preferred).
• Training will be provided, but experience in the above areas is advantageous.
