JOB PURPOSE

A yard operative needs to be willing to drive mobile plant and learn the use of the bagging machines on site. They need to be able to work in all weather conditions and within a highly motivated team, with good communication being fundamental to the role. Manual work is required daily.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an important role within GRS, with primary responsibilities to:

• Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient production of bagged aggregates.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times, reporting any issues, accidents, and near misses to the line manager.
• Work as part of a high-performing team to produce bagged aggregates for our customers, focusing on quality and production targets.
• Operate a forklift truck, depending on site requirements.
• Complete inspections of fixed and mobile plant.
• Bag aggregates into plastic and bulk bags to the required target levels, with relevant training provided.
• Net and sheet lorries as requested by the line manager.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as required.
• Maintain good communication with all drivers, yard operatives, and delivery drivers.
• Ensure compliance with legal duties regarding HR and health & safety to promote a safe, equitable, and legally compliant workplace.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Good knowledge of health and safety (preferable).
• Training will be provided, but experience in the above areas will be an advantage.
