Job summary

Traffic Safety And Management Ltd in Nottingham is seeking a Trainee Yard Operative to join our Nottingham Depot team. You will work under the supervision of our two Yard Managers and help with loading, unloading, and maintaining safe, tidy yard operations.

Ideal candidates are practical, physically capable, with basic numeracy and IT skills, good communication, reliability and teamwork. Training will cover health and safety, traffic management, and company procedures, with weekday daytime

Qualifications

• Physical fitness to perform manual handling safely.
• Clear verbal and written communication with management, colleagues and customers.
• Self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently while following instructions.
• Basic numeracy and familiarity with IT or mobile apps for equipment booking and tracking.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other staff.

Responsibilities

• Material handling: Load and unload equipment, containers and building materials.
• Site maintenance: Keep yard areas clean and organised.
• Traffic and safety management: Banksman style duties and adherence to safety policies.
• Administrative tasks: Record equipment usage and complete relevant paperwork.
• Customer service: Support delivery operations and assist customers on site.
