Job summary

LBS Builders Merchants Port Talbot is seeking a proactive Yard Foreperson to supervise the yard, warehouse and transport operations. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will drive safety, efficiency and customer service for trade and retail customers.

You will lead yard staff and drivers, oversee stock handling, deliveries and stock rotation, and ensure daily vehicle checks. A forklift licence is preferred and training can be provided.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising yard staff and drivers.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication with customers and team members.
• Good knowledge of health and safety practices.
• Forklift licence or willingness to train is an advantage.
• Basic computer/stock system skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate yard staff and drivers to maximise productivity.
• Maintain safe, organised storage and stock presentation across the yard and warehouse.
• Schedule and oversee customer deliveries, ensuring vehicles are used effectively.
• Ensure all vehicles and forklifts are checked daily, maintained, and kept safe and presentable.
• Provide excellent customer service to trade and retail customers, offering advice where required.
• Oversee the accurate picking, loading, and unloading of stock for deliveries, collections, and transfers.
• Contribute to stock management, accuracy, and rotation, including ongoing stock takes.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, company procedures, and security requirements.
• Support and develop staff through training, appraisals, and day-to-day coaching.
