Job summary

SMT GB in Immingham is seeking a proactive Yard Person to join our team. You will help keep machinery, equipment and the yard facilities well maintained to support smooth operations and an excellent customer experience.

You should have yard/warehouse or outdoor operation experience, knowledge of construction equipment, and a strong eye for detail. A full UK driving licence (or forklift licence) is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Experience in yard, warehouse, transport or outdoor operations.
• Understanding of construction equipment or heavy machinery.
• Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Able to work independently while also contributing to a team.
• Good communication and a proactive approach to work.
• Full UK driving licence and/or forklift licence is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and valet machines to a high standard for customer delivery.
• Book machines into the depot, perform visual inspections and assign storage locations.
• Manage yard space efficiently, ensuring safe storage of equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe yard environment.
• Load and unload machinery, coordinate with transport providers to meet schedules.
• Support courier movements and keep delivery/collection records up to date.
